The immense shock I experienced after witnessing the footage from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2020, was the catalyst for what would become a collection of ready to wear and footwear inspired by the disaster. The six-month incident caused unbelievable harm to the 68,000 square miles of ocean wildlife. Cleanup and restoration cost over $61 billion, of which BP, the responsible party, only paid $5.5 billion. Proceeds from The Oil Spill collection were contributed to the cleanup efforts.
